Beans's Review of Savior Equipment IFAK Buddy Individual Medical Pouch
Look, you’re not going to find better for $30 American. Made here too. This pouch gets 5 stars.
Chest, hip butt, I hung it from a chest rig and a 2 piece pistol belt using the hook and loop flap. Yes, it rode backwards hanging from the chest rig and pistol belt. The sharpie and flashlight stayed in the elastic loops with all the moving around.
I kind of checked out the warranty too. Kind of.
I sent in an inquiry to possibly warranty the pouch because of weak button snaps. I declined further action before the process started. I’m positive that the Savior Warranty is solid. They contact you right away. Video proof required as that is pretty standard. I unfairly compared the basic snaps to the BladeTek super tough pull dot snaps. If you have this issue; just back it up with one wrap to keep the button snaps flat and secure. There is 3 extra places to attach other ways.
I decided not to fuss and will attach the pouch with one wrap or the like. Lives perfectly between the two outer pockets on the Savior 22takedown pack without attachment. Not cutting the straps off because the exposed male snap might dig in on the pack or wearer (me). Not so much in a “your gun is digging into my hip,” but best to avoid.
Yeah so, super tough. The IFAK buddy is great. It will protect your life saving gear well but keep the goods handy too. The zippers are rock solid and smooth. The hook and loop almost duct-tape like after repeated pulls. The button straps are doubled up like belay loops on a light weight climbers rig, It sat in m trunk for a year. Today and until I find better; I run it as two separate kits. The celox stop bleed and combat guaze kit rides in the zippered netted inner pouch. I put that in a lidded .308 rifle mag pouch with glove sleeve strapped to the lid. The bigger outer pouch rides on my heavier setup. I didn’t like the bulk but matches all my doubled up gear in thickness (all of my doubled up gear is due to limited real estate).
Emptied; the IFAK buddy can now pack supplies for multiple wounds and still keep a tourniquets readily available. If not already on belt: Other items I keep are a Leather-man skele-tool, mini X-shears, hawk bill folder, foreceps x 2, knipex diagonal cutters and a small multi bit driver. The hanging loops work well (be sure to knot once tensioned/ the spring cord grabbers slip). That’s on all bungee and grabber systems. Not an issue. There’s a good under flap pocket for shears, my ultra thin flashlight and sharpy. Milwaukee sharpies are cheap and write in varied outdoor conditions. Esee RAT cards for basic instructions, may help a beginner. I drop in kydex pannels for added mobile phone protection.
I hope this write up helps. I’m not good at writing and could use the practice. I apologize for the poor grammar or flow. I try to write as I speak. I wonder at times if I’m being helpful or just writing to earn 11% off.
Thanks for reading all the same
