Volts3300's Review of SB Tactical SBPDW Pistol Stabilizing Brace for Mil-spec AR-15 Receivers

Ok, we all know the virtues of AR pistols. I won't bore you with that. What I will say is that the extra length of pull that you get with this brace extended makes an AR pistol handle infinitely better. I don't shoulder the weapon I built. Rather, I shoot from a cheek weld position with the top of the brace against my collar bone just north of my right pectoral muscle. It isn't a shoulder fired weapon after all and I find it to be more comfortable to shoot the pistol with that third point of contact. The collapsed position comes in at just a hair over buffer tube length for easy transport. My pistol has a Palmetto State Armory 10.5" 5.56 NATO upper with a nice M-lock rail. The SB PDW has a centrally located QD sling mount which is excellent for a single point sling to hang the pistol at the ready while you hike. The magpul sling does not tangle up in the brace as you traverse your local terrain or just walk around at the range trying to look tactical. I know I'm reviewing the brace but, to do that you need to explain how it integrates seamlessly with all the other components. That's the best thing I can say about the pdw brace. It just fits. I think it's better than having an SBR evend when legal considerations aren't the focus. With the sightmark holographic sight the collar bone, pectoral position provides and excellent sight picture with both eyes open. The gun handles no worse with the brace in the collapsed position. Also, I'm using magpul mbus back up sights. They are just as good in this setup as on a rifle. The only less than glowing things I have to say about the product is 1, I wish I did not have to keep the adjustment levers depressed to adjust length of pull and I wish there was a stop to prevent pulling the brace out of the mount during adjustment. Both of these things are minor in the scope of things but I kept one star in reserve because of them. If you want a cool pistol that handles like an SBR without the hassle and hoops, the SB Tactical PDW is a good way to go.
