Ringo's Review of SB Tactical SBPDW Pistol Stabilizing Brace for Mil-spec AR-15 Receivers
In theory, good, practicality, not so good. First use, adjusting bars would not squeeze to set brace position. Had to use channel locks to squeeze to release the bars holding the adjustable position rods in order to remove the brace from the tube. Took collar apart, found two metal slotted position bars (I'll call them cams) that rub together being held in place by two roll pins that pass through the slots that allow the cams to open and close using one spring for both pieces. What a shabby system for a $250ish piece of equipment. i took a fine piece of emory cloth and sanded the cams, sanded the roll pin slots, cleaned all the parts, oiled everything, then reinstalled. The cams still stick and will not open or close on their own as they are supposed to, but at least I don't need the channel locks anymore. I do like the ability to adjust the brace position, I just wish there was a better system other than having four metal surfaces contacting each other while attempting to squeeze the position bars to adjust the positions. Also both sides should have a finger paddle to squeeze open or closed. Again, theory of the brace is good, but the function of the inner works, suck.
Pros:
Adjustable brace
Cons:
Inner adjusting parts and heavy
Best Used for:
AR Pistols
Would Recommend:
