Lefty's Review of Scalarworks KICK/03 Picatinny Riser

With scopes’ illumination and parallax turrets on the left, it generally makes for a long turret. If your turret is in the inch long range, roughly half of the reflex optic window will be occluded, and this is with a 40 degree offset. The old 35 degree KICK mounts must’ve been really useless. Scalarworks can easily mock up in CAD how long a turret can be and what percentage a RMR window will be occluded, but they will not disclose that information because they want you to buy the thing and see for yourself. There are hardly any pictures or reviews of left handed KICK mounts on the web which is why I’m making this review. Scalarworks has already discontinued the left handed mounts for DPP and ACRO optics so even they realize the KICK system is mostly useless in general for lefties. Scalarworks should consider what other companies are doing with modular solutions allowing multiple offset angle choices to accommodate various length turrets.
Pros:
  • Possibly decent if right handed and a smallish windage turret
Cons:
  • Mostly useless for lefties
