DesertDuck's Review of Scalarworks PEAK Fixed Iron Sight Set

Let me begin by saying I had previously purchased a set of Daniel Defense 1.5 sights and while the manufacturing quality of the sights seemed fine I wasn't impressed with the overall fit/finish/look of them, so I sent them back and decided to try the PEAK sights instead.

In a word, these are amazing! Right out of the box the manufacturing quality seems second to none. They're incredibly light, while also feeling incredibly robust. The fit and finish of them on my BCM Recce 11 is impressive: the finish they used appears to be the same as what BCM used, and the way the sights line up with the end of the rail and the rear of the upper receiver is perfect.
Yes, perfect!
I wish I could upload pictures, I can't feel an edge between the sights and the receiver, if there is a 0.001" difference I'd be surprised. It looks like these should have come factory installed on the AR.

The adjustments feel really positive, as does flipping the rear aperture forward or back, and I don't notice the offset to the large aperture like mentioned in the other two reviews. Short of putting a caliper to the aperture to confirm, it doesn't appear to be the case.

One thing that I was disappointed by initially, that later turned out to be a symptom of technique, is the rear sight adjustment. The front sight is really tight feeling and has a nice "click" to it. The rear sight didn't feel as tight, nor did it emit an audible click, but I was turning the wheel by pressing my thumb into it. The higher surface area and muffling effect of my thumb meant the adjuster sounded and felt weak, but when trying the adjuster with my thumbnail instead it does indeed "click" and feel quite positive.

And as a nice bonus, Scalarworks included some simple pictured instructions and, most importantly, an adjustment formula for windage/elevation (unlike DD).

Would definitely recommend these to anyone wanting to run some serious fixed sights. Don't let the price scare you, these are worth the money!
