I have had my blue lens Serengeti Aviators for two years, and they have been one of my all time favorites! Comfortable and great looking!
The glass lenses themselves are excellent in most weather conditions; i.e., bright, very clear, and no distortion! However, they are polarized, and if you find it necessary to read digital information panels these are NOT the glasses you want to use for that purpose!
The reason being is they reduce glare; and most instrument panels,(think car radio, clock, etc.)are harder to view. But if you like to fish,(think of bass swimming under a sunlit pier or looking at rocks at the bottom of a stream in mid day sun,), go boating,or ride motorcycles as I do, then these glasses should be of great interest to you! Excellent for reducing glare!
They DO NOT like very low light or darkness, and you should take care not to drop them, thereby avoiding the inevitable scratches that mistreatment brings because of the glass lenses.(But,in their defense, the very same can be said for rough handling with plastic or polycarbonate lenses as far as that is concerned!) I have had three pair of Serengeti glasses;and all have been a "class act",when used for their intended purpose!
If you take care of them, they will surely do the same for you! Enjoy!

Serengeti Aviators are the best pilot sunglasses made. I have worn them for 10 - 12 hours at a time with only a few interruptions. They offer good eyesight protection and zero fatigue.
OpticsPlanet sells this item at the lowest cost of any vendor anywhere. The shipment of this item was damage free and timely. My purchase was securely processed and trouble free.

I have been wearing Serengeti glasses for about 35 years. I still have my first ones, but after using them for about 3 years my wife bought me a pair of the gradient lens drivers. As a professional truck driver, I fell in love with them, had them up until about a week and a half ago, and lost them. I just felt a sick feeling in my stomach until I found them here on Optics Planet, only difference was mine had gold frames and these are matte black.
Got them just 4 days after placing the order and only way I could be happier is if I could find the pair I lost.
I highly recommend these. May even order a second pair just in case.
Best Used for:
- Driving and every day wear

Soon after I bought these Aviator (6826) the lenses started popping out. It's happened about 4 times. I'd put the lens back in and tightened the frame screws. The paint on the frame started chipping and finally the frame came apart again losing the screw the held the lens frame together. I had no better luck with these than I do with $20 dollar cheapies. I've had another brand of expensive aviators for 30+ years and they've never came apart.
Pros:
- I like the amber lens, they brighten up the view.
Cons:
- Cheaply built, bends, coating comes off
- Cheaply built lenses fall out and coating comes off frame
Best Used for:
- throw away use
- Throw away use, don't pay more than $20 for these.

I bought these Serengeti Aviators as a birthday present for my son . . . whom I caught admiring mine! This makes four pairs over the years. I am not one for fashion when it come to sunglasses (not that Aviators are unfashionable). I am a firm believer that functionality pre-empts any other consideration and lets face it, the question, "Would an airline pilot wear them?" is self fulfilling. For driving in the glare of the Australian Outback these lenses are wonderful. After a full day, no eyestrain. And Optics Planet had them in Sydney faster than a blink.

The Serengeti Aviator Sunglasses were exactly what I was looking for and met all of my expectations. They are well made, have glass lenses, and come in a solid case. When looking at object at any distance, there is not distortion whatsoever. Shipping from Optics Planet was quick and arrived earlier than expected. I previously purchased a Spotting Scope from Optics Planet and have never had a bad experience with their company. I could not be more pleased with my purchase of these sunglasses or the service from Optics Planet.

I always buy these Serengeti sunglasses. I like their style. They are great for keeping the sun glare out when I am driving and are comfortable to wear. A little expensive but worth it. I bought them from Opticsplanet. I used regular shipping and got them in four work days.

They ease the eye strain of bright sunlight, sharpen your vision, and maintain natural colors. Dollar for dollar they are the best buy in sunglasses on the market. It was a smooth seamless tranaction.

I have been using Serengeti sunglasses for 40 years. I still have my original set. I especially like the polarization. The Serengeti polarization is very effective. Crystal clear optics and durability.

NOT THE ORIGINAL DRIVER GRADIENT LENS MADE BY CORNING THAT I HAVE WORN FOR CLOSE TO 50 YEARS. LIKE MANY PRODUCTS, THEY ARE NO LONGER PRODUCED. YOU CAN FIND THE ORIGINALS ON E-BAY, USED, AS COLLECTORS ITEMS AT 4 TIMES THE PRICE. I WAS SKEPTICAL WHEN I ORDERED MY Serengeti Aviator Sunglasses (MEDIUM AVIATOR 882). BUT WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE !! THEY WERE GREAT. THE FRAME WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. THE LENS WERE DIFFERENT, BUT ONCE I PUT THEM ON ALL DOUBT WAS GONE. THIS IS AS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL AS YOU CAN FIND, AND BELIEVE ME I LOOKED.
I ORDERED A SECOND PAIR ..... GREAT PRICE FOR A CLASSIC. BUY A PAIR, GET SOME AS A GIFT, BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
