I grew up in the Optical Business as my Parents owned an Optical shop. Ironically, I never needed prescription glasses until after my parents had sold their business and retired. However, I had access to the best non-prescription sunglasses that money could buy, and over the years I tried many. I've worn Ray Bans-both the G-15 and the Green glass lenses, Nikon polarized, Oakley, Rodenstock Rodar (brown glass) AO Trucolor D, Porsche Carerra Polarized, Vuarnet, Suncloud......just about everything except Maui Jim's, which weren't available at the time. I found my perfect match when we got in our first Serengeti Driver Sunglasses at our shop. I put them on, walked out into the sun and was amazed. Everything became super-sharp and clear, yet my eyes, which are quite sensitive to the sun, just totally relaxed. From that point on, I was not without my Serengeti Drivers, even after I finally had to get prescription glasses for distance. I could actually see to drive better with my plano Drivers during the day than with my clear RX glasses at night. Then ten years ago I "Graduated" to multifocal glasses, and had to settle for just polarized progressive RX lenses for my sunglasses, and of course clear progressive lenses in my regular ones. Today, I got my first Serengeti Driver Prescription Progressive Sunglasses from Optics Planet. These lenses are made of a relatively new and cutting edge material called Trivex. I am VERY impressed with the crisp, clear optics as well as the feather weight of these lenses, and of course ALL the wonderful visual benefits of my beloved Serengeti Driver lenses. My eyes are happier than they have been in 10 years, and when you consider the advanced digital technology that goes into the fabrication of these Progressive lenses, they are an absolute bargain. After all, you only have two eyes, and since they can't be replaced at this time, don't they deserve the best protection from the sun available? And take it from someone who worked in the eyewear business for 35 years, you won't find better quality or prices, whether you wear nonprescription or prescription sunglasses than at Optics Planet. Their Optical Department is top-notch. I spoke with Larum several times, and he patiently answered every technical question I could think of before I decided to purchase my RX sunglasses online. I have total confidence in the integrity and quality of their optical knowledge and lab work. And I am in love with the finished product!
