NTxITGuy's Review of Serengeti Sestriere Progressive Prescription Sunglasses

Got these for an up-coming trip to the ocean. I've had other Serengeti sunglasses and was always amazed at how refined and well-engineered they are. This pair I ordered online and am disappointed with. The construction seems low-grade plastic and while comfortable, the materials from which they are made seem pretty cheap. Time will tell. I still have a previous pair that has be re-lensed three times in the 12 years I've owned them. They're a little worn on the finish, as one would expect after 12 years, but they are still in good shape and work fine. I wanted a polarized lens for the glare on the water of the pool and ocean.

The Sestriere is pretty much what I'd expect from a $30 frame, not a $100+. I got the progressive lenses which appear to be ok, but the Polarized Sedona lenses aren't the rose-colored experience I've had in other Sedona lenses. I enjoy rose colored, but these are super-dark and the visual acuity is diminished compared to my other Serengeti Lenses. The Sestrieres are comfortable, but being some form of nylon, they are very light, and fit close to the face as a wrap-around style pair of sunglasses should. If you're looking for a light pair of dark-lensed glasses, this will fit the bill.
