Marc's Review of ShotStop Duritium III+PA Body Armor Plate
Used this to replace my Spartan Armor lvl4 ceramic plates and went from 8.2lbs a plate to 2.7lbs. And I had Spartan Armor lvl3 AR500 side plates that weight 3lbs each. I got the same PA sides that weight 0.9lbs each. So overall going from 22lbs to 7lbs. This is such a huge difference. The only thing that is some what worrying is going from lvl4 to lvl3+. But after reviewing my situation, I don't need armor piercing protection because I am not in sniper fire in a war. So the trade off for weight vs. protection is sufficient.
For urban USA, the ability to stay mobile is also a huge factor. And a 22lbs carrier over time puts more stress on the muscles. I can wear my 7lbs plates all day.
The other HUGE key is the 15 year warranty/lifespan. Everyone else is 5 years, but realistically, these plates can last 7-10 years. But 15 years is even better. The only major con is the price. But if you factor in buying new plates every 5 years because the book says to do it, then you actually save money.
