Mingo's Review of SIG SAUER Whiskey5 10x42mm Rifle Scope 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane

Hi all, This is an update to the review I did awhile back. I encountered some trouble on this Sig range finder /scope combo the last time I first purchased this scope. Since then i have sent the scope in for repair of the illumination knob that was very hard to turn, about July of 2020, but it came back without repair. The repair shop said the turrents were fine and operating properly. I did not say the turrents were the trouble or that they needed repair, just the side illumination knob. They got it wrong even with me including a note inside the box explaining the problem. I was mad they didn't do anything to fix the problem.
Well now I have a separate problem and it is a bad one, the o-ring that holds the system pressure and keep the elements out of the scope is protruding out of the objective lens. It is sticking out and is obviously making the system vulnerable to moisture getting in and messing things up. I have contacted Sig for a third round of repairs and hope they can finally fix this bad scope. I suppose the scope is not meant to be mounted on a high recoil rifle because i have had other low quality scopes fail on my 300 Weatherby in the past, Bushnell, Weaver, and Nikon so I don't buy them anymore. I thought the Sig brand would be different but I guess not.
So this update is to warn other potential buyers that Sig scopes are not the best and failures do occur. When I get the scope back from the repair shop I am going to sell it and buy something better, as in Leupold, Tract, or Steiner; no more cheap junk. Good luck to all of you out there looking for a decent reliable scope.
