Rick's Review of SIG SAUER Kilo 3000 BDX 10x42 Rangefinder Binoculars

Had these about a week (9-23-20). I already have the Leica B2000 range finder ($700ish at the time) which is a great LRF! But I needed a pair of binos to replace my 20 year old pair. So I decided two in one might be better.

The pros & cons

The pros:
The glass is extremely crisp and clear! So clear I almost had a slight headache the first hr I was looking through them. The ability to independently adjust both left and right oculars is very nice! They are a bit stiff but they stay put after you adjust them an that's important! The fast focus on top is not as stiff but enough it wont move and holds its position well. The LRF is fast! I've already ranged out to 3,376 yrds (the farthest I've hit so far). I do not know what the beam divergernce is, unfortunately it's not listed. The Leica has a .4 beam divergence if I remember which makes for extremely great accuracy. The outer shell has a armor like rubberized feel makin it great for summer days if your sweating, or if it gets wet. This aids in keeping a solid grip on them. Also it's water proof up to a meter I think, which is nice if you're going to be out hunting in wet or snowy conditions. The case is nice. It's a 3 pt contact sling so it stays secure and close but out of the way. The top of the case flips down so you can get to them fairly quickly. The BDX system is awesome paired up to my kestrel Elete! It's fast and easy. And the app is easy to use too. Not much different than the Kestrel app. Having the ability to customize your load info, or simply connect to your Kestrel and have the dope in the binos called out to you is brilliant!

The cons:
While not many there are a couple. At the price on these ($1,247) with tax for me, these should certainly come with lens caps as others have mentioned! As stated above I paid about $700ish for my Leica LRF a few years ago, so effectively these binos alone cost about 550. I would expect some lens covers! The objective lens aren't that far sunk into he body so they are more susceptible to scratching. The carrying is case seems to be well made, but if your going to be crawling around dust, twigs, and debris could get into the case fairly easy. The weight of these have a feeling of being well made, but they do have a slightly heavy feel. That's to be expected I guess since they feel well made.

My final thoughts,
Combining two tools into one, and having it work with my Kestrel Elite is huge! It saves time between you and your spotter or yourself in the field, especially if you need to make a quick shot on a game animal. Having the ability to glass and range something at the same time, and it give me my hold over all in a matte of a sec is extremely valuable while hunting! As far as price these aren't cheap! Having several scopes that cost over a grand, I still paused before pushing the purchase button, but I'm very glad I did. And I've really enjoyed using the around the house with the views we have. I have 3 tags to fill next month and these will be going with me! I would definately recommend these to anyone who can afford the price.
