LemSkee's Review of SIG SAUER Alpha Stainless Steel Hunting Rifle Scope Rings
As other reviewers have stated, these rings are not meant to contend with the likes of say, a Geissele Super Precision Mount. If you come to terms with this, these are a great set of rings. At the 60 dollar mark, here are some things you should be aware of:
* Tolerances are not as tight as higher end rings - as such, lapping is a must. I want to stress this point: After lapping the rings, I honestly felt like they doubled in value.
* One set of rail mounting screws did not sink to the same level as the other set (this has no effect on torque/fitment but "may" drive O.C.D.'ers like myself a little bonkers.
* When you lap these rings (as with any rings) be sure to not remove too much material.
TIP: I had a hard time finding the torque specs for these rings so I called Sig. For those that need this info here ya go:
Ring screws: 25 inch pounds (30 max)
Base screws: 30 inch pounds (35 max)
Enjoy!
