Broken Pipehitter's Review of Sig Sauer FOXTROT1X 450 Lumens LED Weapon Lights
Normally I stick to SF/SL WML's as it's what I've used professionally for 20+yrs! I was building a 365 Macro & want to check out the new TLR-7HLX but it was sold out I have a 7X on my Hellcat & 1st SL light wasn't really impressed with it seemed lacking as most SL WML's in past was competing with SF WML's, & I happened to be at Sig Sauer Store & Range one of the salesman asked if I saw these lights & usually not interested in brands not familiar with more so on an EDC or Duty use but pulled one out of the box & it was what I expected out of the SL TLR7X defined hotspot with great spill (no hate on SL but the 7x is ok for bedside use only no define hotspot & more of a flood) ability to punch through photonic barriers like what an EDC light should do or be multipurpose.Few yrs ago actually learned about things like lights & optics or what I didn't know and a huge thing is many companies will boast about Crazy Lumens yet not tell you or list Candela lower on the list though have a good amount of lumens is good but honestly Candela is just as if not more important like this light is 450Lm & 12,000 Candela for up to 1.5hrs vs SL TLR7X 500Lm & 5k Can(TLR-7HLX is the same if using a c123 500lm/5K battery vs rechargeable 1000Lm/10k Can for 30mins) The 2 thing that I find as a Con & one has since gotten better is the switches I'm used to SL/SF, so push in vs down also was super stiff at first, #2 they don't offer one to fit a 365/XL or smaller besides ones w/ grip activation switch & I don't always need a light you would think they would offer a light to fit their micro line like I have a 365XL(sometimes like J Frame size but mags easier than speed clip) or others like HKitty,Bodyguard but rail is too short. Also honestly for half the cost I would highly recommend this one over the TLR7 if you have the rail space(but currently testing another with sim outputl& I have since purchased SS FT2 as well as Sigs handheld lights between features, performance and cost it was an easy choices(discounts added benny).Though I still run a SFX300 on my Duty/Competition Pew just bc I didn't buy it & don't get me wrong it's a fantastic light but it's also crazy money, but I had a TLR-1HL on my 320 Legion(10k+ RDS on just that one no misfires & none of mine have ever had AD/ND) that I swapped out with FT2 bc it better also with the FT2 it has 6 diff switch sizes so really dial in. Like I mentioned I am usually kinda picky about what I use & at times might cry I mean dam allergies but proven systems/comp's that haven't failed me in my various jobs though I'm not the young pipehitter cool guy I may of once been but I still use my gear for work, competition,& edc and this light I have been running for almost a yr w/o issues so I consider it Marine Proof (we excel at F'ing stuff up tech 3rd con didn't come w/crayons ha) I highly recommend this light & just picked up this 50 shades of FDE version so now have 2 FT1's,1 FT2 & 2 handhelds one of each size & the fullsize though got as a b/u I often use as primary as the 33K Candela & throw is great.
