Fran's Review of Simmons 22 MAG Adjustable Objective 3-9X32mm AO Rimfire Rifle Scope w/ Scope Rings

Bought this scope on Thursday and rushed home to mount it, then off to the range.
using Winchester .22 HP ammo and could not get it sighted in to save my life at 50 yards. Then I changed over to Blazer 22 ammo and had it sighted in nicely in 10 rounds.
Then I decided to shoot some bowling pins at 25 yards. Couldn't hit a pin at 9X power. Didn't know where the rounds were going so I set up paper target at 25 yards. It was hitting low about 12" and right about 4-6"
For some reason I decided to try it at about 4 -5 power magnification and began hitting pins with no problem.
Now I was really confused so I went home and called Customer Service at Simmons. The guy on the phone said the scope was defective and said I could send it in for repair and I would have to pay for shipping or I could go back to where I bought it and have them send it in for repair. I opted for that. The store tried hard to give me another scope of the same type but I was afraid I would have the same problem so I insisted they send it back as the Customer Service recommended. At least if I get it back, I will know that Simmons repair "should have" taken care of the problem as the POI should not change at such short distances, especially so drastically.
I'll give this scope one more chance when I get it back but if it still doesn't perform as it should, I will insist on getting my money back. I don't like having anything gun related that isn't dependable.
I'm not spending a fortune on a scope for a .22. If I can't find a good reliable scope, I'll sell the rifle. Its just inexpensive shooting fun for my daughter and wife and me when we're done with handguns.
