Photograher's Review of SiOnyx Aurora Night Vision Monoculars
I've used Gen 1-3 night vision devices in the past, bought the Sony A7s when it first came out with a ISO of over 409,000 and this is the best "low cost" alternative viewing device for turning night scenes into grainy but identifiable images. It can be used to see what goes "bump in the night" when camping or for home security (if held against your face close to your eye so that no light from the viewfinder reveals your face...sorry those wearing glasses, this reveals your position) or for "art". Its photos are less than 1 MP, the video is only 720p, it only has manual focus, it does NOT have image stabilization, it needs some ambient light (1/4 moon or an optional infra red light to peer into shadows) but it still out performs some way more expensive Gen 3 NVDs. Unfortunately for my budget, I bought one for myself but have 3 sons so I have to buy more for them, which should be the best recommendation of all.
Pros:
- Budget friendly yet effective Night Vision
Cons:
- It is so good I have to buy more for my sons
Best Used for:
- Low Cost Night Vision
