Snapsafe super titan xxl review - Snapsafe, A Hornady Company Super Titan XXL Double Door Gun Safes

The Snapsafe modular design idea is an idea that was needed but a long time coming. I had the need for a lot of storage area, but the main floor of my house, including the garage, offered no room for a large safe to be installed. Additionally, the stairs to my basement are fairly narrow and steep. The modular design of the safe I purchased allowed me, with the help of a friend, to tote all the components to build the Super Titan XXL down to my basement. All 900 lbs of it. This was not easy. The vault doors and the safe's back plate are truly heavy. Assembly is also not something well thought out for a safe this size. The directions say to assemble it, with the help of a friend, with the safe laying on it's back. Then, just before you hang the doors, you are supposed to stand the safe upright. I am sorry, at that point the safe would have to weigh in the neighborhood of 700 lbs. I am 60 years old and in reasonably good condition. Even if if I was quadruplets there is no way to be able to stand that thing up. I had no choice but to build it vertically and invent the construction methodology as I encountered issues. It is assembled, and located where I wanted it, but it was a brutal build. There were only two manufacturing issues that I ran into.. 1) Fit on one of the panels was not the tightest. On one seam, you can see light when you back light it with a flashlight. There is a very small, short gap, but it is not completely air tight. Why aren't fire-stop gaskets part of this design for all seams? 2) As previously noted, I am 60 years old. I am not a body builder. There is no way I should have been able to twist one of the bolts in half with the socket wrench provided. I did, though. I am sure that there was a foundry flaw in that bolt assembly. Snapsafe should provide one or two bolt spares in their parts kit.
