Bill S's Review of Sons of Liberty Gun Works SOLGW 5.56mm/.300 AAC Blackout Bolt Carrier Group
When it comes to Bolt Carrier Groups they are the HEART of the Rifle. It is one of the two most vital components of the entire gun. Some companies will lest every little detail while others use vague terminology and say very little. Some of the specs may seem boring to most, but what do the details of such a crucial item really say about it quality level? Sons of Liberty Gun Works is a very unique company. Their owners are openly available and active on social media to help customers out personally. They have a very loyal clientele base for numerous reason, on of which is the extreme details they list on all of the products. While the specs of a bolt carrier group may seem like a foreign language to some folks there is a good reason that the sons BCG is such a coveted item and that is because they list every single minute detail from parts, materials to assembly methods offering a level of transparency on a critical item that is rare in the gun industry. As companies will often "Hide" things from customers by failing to list crucial detail on parts and materials used along with assembly techniques. The reason this BCG stands out so much is because every little detail about it is listed in order to let customers know every minute detail so that informed consumers can make and educated decision. All of the materials used are listed down to the kind of springs used for the ejectors in an effort to show that every little detail was carefully though out in order to construct this masterpiece which aide in a level of quality control and reliability that is second to none for the AR15 platform. I have personally owned rifles from the likes of Daniel Defense, Bravo Company Manufacturing, Noveske, and Sons of Liberty Gun works. I have owned BCG's from those previously listed along with Fail Zero, Sharps Rifle Company, Rubber City Armory(Noveske Marked Black Nitride BCG) and have put numbers thousands of round through most of them. The SOLGW BCG at a glance seems fairly standard until you look at the details of the parts , material and processes used to create it. It uses a tried and true black phosphate coating not some fancy coating that is trying to cover up sub par materials. It one of the finest example of a simple tried and true BCG design that is executed to an extraordinarily high level, giving you everything you need and nothing you don't. As in my opinion this SOLGW BCG is one of the best option if you want a BCG that will withstand anything that you can throw at it in order to offer a level of reliability and performance that is second to none then this is the BCG for you. As try and remember it is NOT what a company tells you about their products that stand out the most, but its what they DON'T say that speaks volumes on why they leave out those detail and what they may be attempting to hide by with holding such information on on of the most critical components you can select for youi AR15.
