Favorable experience, candid review for balanced perspective - Hex Hex Wasp Micro Red Dot Sight

Before purchasing the Hex Wasp about a year ago I hesitated due to some negative reviews. And have seen some negative reviews since then. So, I’m adding these comments about my favorable experience so you have additional information to make your informed decision. As mentioned, I’ve had the Hex Wasp for about a year. It’s mounted to a Springfield Hellcat that I’ve had for two years. A deciding factor for me was the compact size and the clean integration the firearm. Due to negative reviews I was ready to assess several reported probs: perceived flickering due to LED refresh rate, slight distortion, auto dim problems, & battery life. I was relieved to have experienced none of these to any significant degree. Of all these I was most aware of a slight distortion at the outside edge of the glass. However, I only noticed this as a distraction for about four weeks. Since that time I don’t recall noticing it at all unless I deliberately look for it. Again, it is slight. I have observed no refresh rate flicker. The auto dim has worked well in a variety of lighting conditions, including full sun tactical training and low light room clear drills. I have not had to replace the battery so far, even though it is in daily use. The sight has maintained zero through approx 2,500 rounds. The sight has remained secure. I did use a Fat torque driver to tighten to factory recommended specs when I installed. (This $50 tool is money we’ll-spent, and I recommend checking torque even if your local gun shop installed for you.) Using the same firearm, I attended a tactical training with iron sights and then a second training with the Hex Wasp. With the red dot I was able to make target head shots at distances that I was simply unable to make with the iron sights. In other words, the Wasp successfully compensated for eyes that can no longer maintain iron sights in focus as well they could a few years ago. In summary, my experience has been very favorable after nearly a year of daily use that includes formal tactical training. So, I can recommend without reservation.
