Wicky's Review of Spuhr Rifle Scope Mount

I have held off on buying a Spuhr because I felt the price was ridiculous for a scope mount. Finally on a nice bolt Action build I wanted the best I could afford cause this rifle will be a lifer. I can say that this mount is well worth every penny and then some. The Machining and finish is second to none, the options you have for it is unlike any other mount , also if you factor in the built in level , the price becomes not as bad as it seems if you were going to get a high quality level anyway. I like th US OPTICS level which costs about $110. Most high quality mounts are in the $200-250 range. So at about $380 The price isn’t quite as bad as it seems if you’re going for a high quality mount and level. I believe your scope would break in half before you knock this thing out of tactical zero as well. If you want the best and are not trying to save weigh lt, don’t hesitate, this scope mount sure at almost $400 is far from cheap but if it’s for a build you want the best and keep for life then just do it! I can tell you right now, If you do it you will absolutely not have buyers remorse with this product!! .... and I do have experience with some high quality mounts like Nightforce Extreme Unimount, Badger Ordnance, Leupold, Larue and Kinetic mfg which is another high quality unit albeit for a different use but I just wanted to point out that I am used to some high quality mounts and the Spuhr just makes some of them which are in the $120-$240 price range btw seem like light duty units and I have knocked around a few of the above which held zero and are excellent as well so that speaks miles for the Spuhr. Not the cheapest, the best period. If I had to nit pic a con it would have to be that it’s slightly bulky and heavy. Which isn’t even a con for the right build Of course it’s not a mount you’d want on a lightweight cqb build but on build that you need to hold zero on and be able to knock your rifle around a bit like a hunting rifle or dedicated longer range rifle, this is the best option.
Pros:
  • Robust, built in level, 2nd to none quality
Cons:
  • heavy considering
  • bulky, heavier than others..
Best Used for:
  • Hunting, Target, long range shooting
