Alyssa's Review of Spypoint LINK-MICRO-S-LTE Trail Camera

I contacted Spypoint customer service today due to rain water getting inside my two link-micro-s-lte cameras. They are both no longer functioning. There is also water inside of the batteries of the cameras. Rain water was not only getting inside the cameras, but also inside the housing of the batteries. The weatherproofing seals on these cameras are worthless. My cameras no longer transmit any kind of data or pictures. When I contacted customer service, they asked me to email them a picture of the water inside the batteries. So I did, and then they claim they can’t replace the batteries because the warranty on the batteries is voided due to me opening the batteries. The water is inside of batteries, how am I supposed to send a picture of the water inside of something without opening it. They claim I never should have touched anything if I wanted to be able to claim a warranty on it. This was explained after I sent the pictures of course. The customer service representative told me to send pictures of the batteries! I did not void the warranty, you voided the warranty yourselves Spypoint when you told me to send pictures of the water inside the batteries. Customer service appears to look for any possible way to avoid honoring their warranty and sending replacements to customers with defective products. Customer service then proceeded to tell me they could replace the cameras if I provided a proof of purchase. I then specifically asked if I provided the proof of purchase, if they were going to replace the cameras and the batteries or just the cameras. They responded that they would replace the cameras, but charge me the cost of the batteries because I voided the warranty on the batteries. I understand asking for proof of purchase, that is not the issue. My issue is I am not paying for batteries I did not damage or void the warranty on in the first place. They are wet from rain water getting inside a product with defective seals. If you ask a customer to send images of the damage caused by the water, do not then proceed to tell them they voided the warranty in the process of sending these pictures. Customer service ended the conversation by confirming they were the ones who asked for the pictures for investigative purposes and that there was nothing they could do due to the fact that I “voided the warranty.” Do not purchase this camera in the first place as it is not actually waterproof and will stop working. If you make the mistake of purchasing it, good luck dealing with customer service who will try to find any way to avoid giving you a replacement and will trick you into voiding your own warranty. Spypoint has the worst and most untrustworthy, shady customer service I’ve ever dealt with. I should have listened to the other reviews that mention waterproofing issues on the cameras and poor customer service. I will never purchase another product from Spypoint.
