First Steiner product I own. Battery on constant 5 setting will last about two weeks. Glass is very clear and easy to see target. Red dot during day time only visible at setting 4 with fresh battery and 5 only in the next couple of days. I have astigmatism and had to replace my eotech with something different. I got mine with 3X magnification. Using it for 300blk SBR between 20 and 100 yards only. Not sure about customer service, called twice with question, no one picked up the phone, left message and no one returned call. Sent email, also no response. I like this optic, but probably would ...

Excellent prism optic for the money

by User, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on April 18, 2021
This is a phenomenal optic for the money. Admittedly there is very little information about them out there. These are supposedly mil contract optics made by Steiner. They are extremely well built (and heavy), glass is phenomenal, the reticle is great, and the overall quality is just fantastic on these. I'd put it in the same class as the ACOG in terms of quality, and I own both. MSRP is similar between them as well, but at the time of this review Optics Planet has an amazing deal on these.

There seems to be some confusion about the reticle on this. The P7TR reticle is a standard BDC .mil reticle that IS NOT specific to any caliber. You calibrate it to the load you're using just like other non-caliber specific BDC reticles. It is NOT meant for a 22-250, and Steiner makes no mention of that anywhere. They simply state it is a .mil reticle. I believe the other reviewer is confusing it with the Steiner Plex S7 reticle (which is a 22-250 reticle) because the BDC's look similar. To add to that, and I am not trying to be disrespectful to the other reviewer, but it makes absolutely no sense at all to design a combat optic around a varmint round like the 22-250.

Steiner has this optic in a .308 and 5.56 reticle as well, respectively (although you can't seem to find them at the time of this review). Again, the P7TR is the universal .mil reticle for this optic. So it can be calibrated for whatever you want to shoot: 5.56, 300 BLK, .308, 7.62x39, etc.
Pros:
  • durable
  • Illuminated reticle
  • Glass clarity
Cons:
  • Heavy

P7TR Reticle for odd ball high velocity 22-250 rd limiting practical use of great sight

by DDearborn, from NH, United States Written on January 31, 2021
With all due respect to the "expert" who previously answered my question regarding the Reticle. It is now my understanding that Steiner's theP7TR is specifically designed around the high velocity 22-250 round NOT the .223/5.56... Steiner still offers a 5.56 and 7.62 specific version of this scope in Europe. If this (22-250) is your round or you are willing to make do with the mathematical gymnastics needed to calculate the adjustments and commit those numbers to memory then you can make this scope work for 5.56. For its intended 22-250 ammunition I have no doubt it is a superb optic.

If someone would like to post a valid link to Steiner's website stating in writing it is for something other than the 22-250 round, please, by all means do so...I will then be happy to retract my comments.
Pros:
  • great glass, FOV, eye relief
Cons:
  • oddball reticle

Crystal Clear

by DoctorChillson, from TX, United States Written on January 1, 2021
This thing is a tank. I’d wanted a bomb proof optic for a while with magnification. For the price I don’t think it can be beat. It looks great feels great, dot is daylight bright. Comes with with risers to help with cheek weld. Some people have complained about the bdc, but once you get your distances, it’s good. Very happy.
