CplFUBAR's Review of Strike Industries 1911 Torx Grip Screws

Ok, so this is a review of both the product quality and customer service of Strike Industries. I lost a grip screw from my 1911 Rock Ultra 45, figured I would replace all 4 with something a bit fancy and since I had ordered a few AR parts from Strike Industries without an issue previously I would try their fancy Torx screws out. Now, I'm an amateur gunsmith, but I've worked with both heavy duty and delicate machinery most of my life and I know what hand tight is. When I tighten the screws for my grips I treat them like cheap outlet plates. That is, I don't over tighten them because I don't want to risk cracking something. All this being said, I bought a set of these screws on 3/23/25. Got them and installed them without an issue. Since then I have fired maybe 150 rounds from my 1911 with these new screws on it. I store my 1911 in a gun vault and it doesn't get banged around or anything. A week or so ago I took it out to mount a new set of grips on it and before I was done checking to make sure it was clear I noticed that one of the screw heads was missing. That is, broken off with the threaded part still in my 1911. I contacted Strike Industries about it and they offered to give me store credit since these screws were not currently in stock. I agreed and they send me a form, already filled out, that I just had to print and send with the full set of screws back to them. Now, I paid $16.70 including S&H when I bought them direct from Strike Industries. I was surprised that I didn't get a prepaid shipping label to return the screws, but I figured it couldn't be that expensive to send 4 tiny screws back to them. I was surprised to end up paying $15.82 through UPS at the cheapest rate available. I reached out to Strike Industries and sent a copy of the shipping receipt showing the cost. At that point, they respond by telling me that their technicians had determined it was MY fault that the screw broke due to "improper installation". I am still in the midst of sorting this out, but at this point I probably won't be buying anymore products from Strike Industries if this is how they treat their customers.
