Josh Provost's Review of Strike Industries Modular Rifle Bag

I saw this on the Strike website originally and it caught my interest but it was oos. After some Google searching I found that Optics Planet had one tan one left and after some debating I finally decided to buy it. That was the beginning of my troubles with the bag. After I received a notification saying the order was being shipped I received an email that essentially said they oversold the bag and didn't have one for me and they had ordered one. After checking the product page and seeing a 1-4 month wait I emailed Optics Planet and said to cancel the order, however I received a response saying it was being packaged for shipping and would be on the way soon. Nine days later I asked what soon meant. A day later I get an email with a tracking number and it showed up 6 days after that which would be today. After opening the box up I realize I didn't get a Strike bag instead I received a JTech bag which is apparently the company that makes the bag for Strike Industries. OK cool, doesn't really bother me as it's the same bag, the only difference I see is the lack of tags on the inside of the lid. The reason I don't recommend the bag and I have given it only 2 stars is because the only gun that will fit in the bag without modification is a 16" AR with folded sights, no optics or anything else on the rail and the stock fully collapsed. My 11.5" AR pistol would fit if I didn't have an optic on it, my 14.5 "fits" if I remove the scope which is in a quick detach mount and collapse the stock. Also my 14.5 with an A1 upper and A1 stock will "fit" if I remove the vertical foregrip from the quad rail and the Warden from the Warcomp. The 18" barreled AR will not fit even with the stock collapsed all the way, it has an A5 buffer system, which I didn't expect it to but I checked it anyways. I didn't bother with the Ruger Ranch chambered in 5.56 due to length and scope not being quick detach. All of the guns that "fit" stuck up far enough out of the top that the lid got harder to zip shut when going by certain parts of the gun. The 14.5 with the removable scope has an offset reflex sight mounted at a 45 that sticks up high enough to push on the lid, the A1 upper has the carry handle and even the 16" with just folded back up sights pushed against the lid due to the pistol grip making it sit up. If the bag was made an inch or two taller it wouldn't be a problem and would fit them easily. If it was 3 or 4 inches taller I wouldn't have to remove my scope and I could stick my 11.5 in the bag with it's Cyclops attached to it. A couple inches longer and the 18 incher would fit but that already has it's own bag so it's not a huge concern to me. It would probably work for the 14.5 with the scope if I got a quick detach for the offset red dot. I was planning on getting another optic or two for it with quick detach mounts so I wouldn't have to always have an LPVO on it so maybe this bag will get sidelined until that happens. Plus I could use the extra compartments to hold the optics for the rifle since there are 4 compartment options available. I will however say it has lots of padding and will definitely protect whatever's in there fairly well. I should also note there are two straps on the lid with no seeming purpose to them, there was nothing with the bag stating it's specs or anything so I'm guessing maybe they are used to cinch a shooting mat or jacket to the lid? Oh and the bottom of the bag has four plastic feet that are about an inch by 12" long that act as standoffs to protect the bottom. I live in MN and it gets hella cold here so we'll see how long they last with the cold weather.
