Bill's Review of Strike Industries Ruger 10/22 Modular Rifle Chassis
I purchased this so the grandkids would enjoy shooting a 10/22. I wanted something “tacticool” for the kids to shoot without breaking the bank on ammo costs…ie, 77gr OTM is pricier than .22LR)….
Let’s begin with the fact that this stock requires extensive gunsmith fitting (several hours) and this was not known when purchased. You can’t begin to enter the receiver in place without significant file and stone work by an expert.
I have been shooting and owned all types of firearms for over forty five years and took the time to become a certified firearm instructor. So this is not my first rodeo. I have paid for many upgrades over the years as I value function and accuracy. Stocks are high on the priority list for the former and generally low on the latter (barrel, trigger and sights rate higher) but this failed on both counts.
Next, the attachment point for the rear stock will not lock down and permits movement while the cost in terms of hours for fitting the receiver and trigger group into the stock is ridiculously high. There are many other drop in options that add to grandkid “cool factor” without breaking the bank.
