Haven't had range time with it, but it sounds like decent aluminum, resists bending despite being fairly thin, it adds a small amount of weight to the front which isn't entirely a bad thing, that should help the muzzle return to center if the slide above moves backward (the word inertia comes to mind somewhere in there). For my 'Saint Croix Tactical (Glock clone) frame, which features Standard 1913 rail, I had to use a layer of electrical tape to prevent vertical play, which that fixed. I did have to tighten the through-bolt pretty hard too, but this is probably made to fit pistol-rail too, which is larger than picatinny. I have a long, ported barrel on this, which would make it pointless as a "blast shield" but I can put my fingers higher up without touching the reciprocating slide.
