VAPatriot's Review of Sun Optics 5-30x56 Ultra Variable IR Rifle Scope
I purchased this optic for a few reasons: First and foremost was the 4" Eye Relief it provides. I put this scope on my BOHICA 50 BMG, a bolt action rifle that really requires plenty of eye relief to avoid scope bite. The rifle kicks like a mule and if you don't hang on tight it's gonna get ya... #2 was the 56mm objective lens which seems to let in plenty of light. Lastly, the price was right.
When sighting in I used a laser to make sure I was on paper at 50m. At $5 per round you don't want to waste a lot of rounds dialing in your optic. I found this one to be very quick to sight in. At 50 yards I was off by 3 inches left and 2 inches low. The scope is set up in 1/4 inch clicks @ 100M so I doubled the number of clicks (right and up) which I figured would be close enough. We moved out to 100M and used my sled to ensure we could get good repeat shots. The first round at 100M was about 1" low and 1.5" right. I used the scale on the optic to move the round the the left and up. The next shot hit the bulls-eye. The final round was used to shoot a five gallon Sake Box full of water which it annihilated.
My next goal is to get it out to proper range when I reach out to 600+ yards. Once that's done I'll update my posting.
