RMc's Review of Super Vel Ammunition 9mm Luger 124 grain Full Metal Jacket Brass Cased Pistol Ammunition
I was looking to try out this brand of ammo for sometime and saw PO had it for a good price and low cost shipping, always the real decision maker when it come to buying ammo... especially if you are learning or are training regularly... wish there was some way like prime to cover shipping... back to my experience...
It is packed well, 100 round box, nice especially if you ammo crate it to make transpo to and from ranges easier
It is reman, this is where I became concerned... now while it is my first experience with re-man i have heard little to nothing good about re-man, it can be hit or miss on quality as the casing are reworked and you can only get the cases into a good enough condition, but I did inspect a few rounds in each of the 2 cases i bought and found them to be in good to excellent but not perfectly new condition
So how did they shoot... I'd say 6.5/10 overall
In my G45, they ran well, about 10% failure to either feed or eject, more feed than eject... ok gave me the randomness to practice my tap and rack exercise... highly recommend either by luck or have some load random snap caps in several mags and work through them, the exercise is fun to breakup the training cycle
Ran a bit dirty but the Glock can handle dirty rounds or for that matter any sort of ammo, its a Glock... dam thing is just a mousetrap
In my 2011, MAC 9DS 5" and 4.25", it ran better... still feed and eject issues but far less (say 2%). the 2011 mechanics are a bit more mechanical to the Glock mousetrap so they use a bit more thud to move and cycle, best way I can resolve the difference in how the ammo ran between the different platforms. Since the round was a bit more dirty it would smoke the SRO on the 5" and the 507COMP on the 4.25" a lot quicker than my EPS on the G45.
I was doing mag drop n swap drills, shoot 4 swap shoot 3 more using my PACT timer, I also got from PO, that will be the next to review.
I was running between 12 and 14 sec cycles, splits of .60-.90 and reload of 2.5-3, definitely not setting the world on fire but then again this is why we train, right.
I have a total of 8 mags for this drill and use a 5 target panel at 12 to 15 yds which gives me 4 exercises before pull the target to review, paste and repeat.... I saw this on YT where I find most of my drills and of course IG from great follows.
With the Super Vel I would need to wipe the red dot clear after 3-4 exercises to keep a clear line of sight, comparably when I used either BPS 115 or 124 or my fav ammo, Blazer 115 Aluminum, I could go for 8 to 10 exercises before I would need to wipe the red dot.
So would I buy again, no, would I call worth the money, if on sale, yes... would i recommend... If you have never tried it, Yes, but i have and I am good... lets see what else PO has on sale... they have great prices and even better shipping rate, free if you buy smartly and are patient.
