Legacy Reviewer's Review of Surefire M720V RAID White & IR Output Weaponlight

This is a great weapon light. The white light is very bright on high at 100 yards. Strobe setting on white light is great as well and could definately be used for CQB. Just what is needed in the white light department and plenty bright. Even brighter at range than a Fenix pd30 265 lumen. The surefires beam is more focused at range than the fenix. Now to IR, NVD used is ITT NEPVS-14 gen 3+. IR illuminator on low is perfect for CQB. no autogation with the nvd at all and no glare of any kind. spot on right. when looking at the illuminator when on low IR setting, the faintest little red glow can be seen. this glow is so faint that I had to have no ambient light around to see it with the naked eye. In medium and high settings the red glow is much more noticeable but not so noticable that would give a position away if used correctly. IR illuminator at 100 yards on a non moonlit night is very bright on high setting. I even noticed some autogation with the NVD to compensate for the brightness. I would say the illuminator could be used past 200 yards on a non ambient night. Very bright. the only thing that I wish I would have known before buying this (not that it would have really changed anything) is that you MUST use the pressure pad if you want to use this. I hate pressure pads bacusse they take up real estate and are a pain in the butt. The pad is upwards of 3 and1/2 inches long and takes up considerable rail space. The pad has 2 buttons, one for momentary on and one for constant on. It will have to grow on me. no wabble at all when locked to rail (light and pad) and very easy to take on and off. Great locking system as well. I am amazed with this light. by the way to switch from whitelight to IR you must turn the end of the light (bezzle) and smap it into either setting. This is not too bad and can be done quickly with one hand with practice. It has all I need in a small light weight package. The cost is very high for this but so is everything for NVD's. if you can buy a NVD, a GOOD NVD you can buy this too.
Pros: dual illumination with ease of use
Cons: price, must use pressure pad
