Poncho's Review of Suunto Core Watch Strap

My son and I live and work outside in the Sonoran desert, NOT the urban snow bird desert, the real one.
I like/use the black out core with the elasto- watch band instead of the open edge, swiveled bar urban style band that comes on many suunto core's, because it keeps sticks, leaves, Bugs and cactus spines from lodging between the watch body and the band, preventing stuff from sticking you... "Less drag moving through the scrub".
If you look at the picture you can see it is wider near the watch and solid half way down on your wrist, more aerodynamic if you like.
This band also comes in blacked out hardware, I know because I'm wearing one.
I am on this site looking for another band...again....Second one this year...? These bands dry out fast in the heat, or maybe your skin oil destroys them, regardless they ALL CRACK ON THE INSIDE AGAINST YOUR SKIN, FALL APART into pieces and will allow the watch to fall off your wrist.
Lost one free diving and didn't even know it was gone till I was on board, stowing gear and realized my watch was gone. Suunto's bands are the weakest link in the chain of their performance watches without a doubt. You will be sorry if you don't buy 2 and have a spare.
The watch band may be their real cash cow @ $40 to $50 ea'..... you can pay as much $$$ as a new watch... in bands in a couple years.
The metal bands are heavy, heat up and induce cranky things in the ocean to strike at the reflection like they do fishscales......so black plastic is preferable to a shiny object/lure.
The other thing that bugs me is the aluminum bezel on the watches that scratch the day you get your watch and in a couple years that flat black watch bezel is grey and suitable for dirt work and sweating only. The watch body is a composite and stays perfectly black and unchanged.
The customer service is Scandinavian and those who respond are impatient, seem put out and don't like dealing with Americans, they're often rude, hard to contact and after several experiences with them, I think its a cultural thing that I just don't understand because thy all seem similar.
Maybe they're cold......
