Myles's Review of TacFire A2 AR-15/5.56 Fixed Stock Kit
Okay, story time.
I got this stock kit for a general purpose build with an 18" barrel, iron sights, and cahmbered in 5.56mm NATO. The caliber part will be important later.
I got he rifle together and I noticed the spring was wicked stiff. "no matter" I thought, "this kit comes 100%, and that's just the way it's supposed to be, right?" At this point I'm satisfied and ready to shoot it. I get to the range and after my first shot, it doesn't cycle. I manually charge the rifle about five times before I decide something this repeatable means I goofed up the assembly to head to my local gunsmith. My gunsmith cycles the action and immediately tells me the spring is ungodly stiff for 5.56mm NATO, and sells me a weaker replacement spring. My build has worked fine ever since.
Hearing that, you might be surprised that I still actually really like this kit. It's a good budget kit and everything but the spring that came with it fit perfectly into place. There's not much to go wrong with the A2 stock portion or hardware, but make sure the spring is fit for your caliber. I was lucky there was no damage to my 5.56mm BCG or any other part. But I'm sure the spring could be good for 300 Blk., .450 SOCOM, and maybe 6.8mm SPC.
