AriKona's Review of Tacfire Remington 870 Stock Kit/M4 Style Stock

The stock arrived in perfect condition and was packaged with care to prevent damage to the parts. After putting the stock together, I went to mount it on my Remington 870. There seemed to be one minor problem - the shell holder prevented the pistol grip to fit into the receptacle on the gun. After some analysis, it was evident that the shell holder was preventing the stock from being mounted (I must stop here. I have a mount for optics by Leupold attached to my shotgun and it, along with the shell holder prevented the mounting, so it was NOT simply the shell holder's fault.) So, I modified the shell holder to only hold 2 shells and the problem was solved. Yes, if I had a Remington 870 just out of the box, I am sure the stock would have fit with no problem, but I have had the shotgun for over two decades and have done just a little bit of modification to it. So, if you have a brand new shotgun, this is for you. If you have done any modifications at all, consider what I have written. Had the shell holder been mounted on the pistol grip just a few millimeters back (this is a hint to the Tacfire manufacturers), there would have been no problem and it would fit any 870, even with modifications. So, I will give it 5 stars as it does what it says it will do. And the modification only took away a single shell so all in all, this is a good investment in my opinion. I learned that a stock is essential the hard way. With a pistol grip only, I ended up tearing my rotator cuff in my right shoulder (not fun), so the addition of a stock will be well received.
Pros:
  • Collapsible, light, affordable
Cons:
  • shell holder could cause problems
Best Used for:
  • Tactical & home defence.

About AriKona from AZ, United States

I consider myself an American Sheepdog. So many people are walking around with there head down looking at their cell phone. This is as good as being oblivious or in the "white" zone. It's time we got our noses out of the phones and look around. Then we wouldn't be hearing, "I had no idea it was coming." so often.
