I'm a trainer and use padded battle belts with molle to accomodate all the gear (pistol, pistol mags, AR mags, dump pouch, IFAK, knife, etc.). These require some sort of inner belt.
I've tried every other styles of trainers belt and riggers belt and could never get the right combination of size and fit. It always seemed like A large was too short and and XL was too long and the tag end with the velcro was just totally unworkable.
Trust me when I say a cobra buckle riggers belt is the only way to go. One of the best features is that once you get it setup the way you want it you don't have to change anything.
It is easy to don and take off the entire rig with the cobra buckle. Also like the fact that it is 1.75" wide. Many similar belts are 2" wide which is too wide to accomodate some holsters, mag pouches and knife sheaths.
Pros: buckle system, weight & stiffness of material, functionality, sizing, ruggedness
Cons: none
