Simple version:
the recoil rod retainer in my 22/45 was broken when I pulled the bolt out to clean after shooting a few weekends ago.
Pistol has had about 1000 rounds through it since I bought it.
As the recoil spring is permanently attached to the rod, I had to get replacement parts - pretty easy.
Ended up purchasing the Volquartsen VS3 Recoil Rod Spring and Assembly Kit/Tandem Kross Essential Parts Maintenance Kit as a combined order.
Both are of good quality and were very easy to install. I haven’t been out with it since the install, but I’m sure it will function great, if not better wit the Eagle's Talon Extractor and new Titanium Firing Pin.
Longer version:
My slight disappointment was however the way the item was shipped. These are small parts and could have easily been shipped in a padded envelope - however they turned up in a large box (think shoebox size), just way too big for what was even needed. Considering it's free shipping on items over a certain spend price (and that is always appreciated from OP), the unnecessary waste of using such a large shipping box was essentially lost, considering that most shipping (even bulk corporate accounts) is often calculated on cubic volume (think UPS/FedEx requirements).
I hope that OP customer service look these reviews and appreciates how this may impact on the future generation of waste and strengthens their focus on more efficient and recyclable shipping processes.
