Big BMG Z's Review of Trijicon AccuPower RS-30 4.5-30x56mm Rifle Scope, 34 mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)

I wanted to wait a while until I decided to review this product. It was preordered here on optics planet. I waited a two month period until I was called via phone to confirm it was available for purchase. Awesome job by the company in my opinion. Now, I have used this rifle scope on my savage 110 tactical chambered in .308 win. I have been shooting with this for one full year and multiple hunts hiking Alaskan hills as well. I have never lost zero with this scope, granted the recoil on this heavy rifle is not much either. Tracking is spot on as well, I dial most of my long range shots and hold for wind only. The turrets are stiff enough with a little mushiness, not going to accidentally turn when out hunting with this optic if that is your concern. Eye relief is what you should expect from a scope that can reach this high of magnification; forgiving at the low end, yet extremely difficult to use at highest power without any support. Need an excellent cheekweld and either prone with bags/bipod or shooting sticks to get the full value from this high powered scope. The reticle itself I found to be very useful with the MOA setup I am used to. I have a Nightforce ATACR 5-25x56 SFP MOAR on my Barrett M107A1 I use to compare against. The reticle on this trijicon is a little thicker at max value zoom, but totally usable for precision shooting and hunting. The truth is, I love both these scopes and reticle setups. Because this scope is a first focal plane reticle, the lowest zoom setting is not easy to use hold overs on. In fact, I would only use at the lowest magnification setting for fast target shooting and close range targets. If you have the time, zoom in and adjust parallax accordingly. As far as glass quality goes, it is excellent. Nightforce ATACR has it beaten, but this is very marginal and costs 1000usd more. The illumination on this sight really shines at the higher magnification settings. Both the red and green are awesome when the dusk and dawn hours are approaching. This scope is large and heavy, don’t be upset if you want to use it for hunting, you might fatigue earlier. It will make up for this by letting you easily see your targets 1000 yards away. So, in conclusion, I feel for the price point this scope is an excellent purchase for those who shoot long range and want a scope that can also be used as a spotting scope during hunting seasons. Find that high ground clearing, put in the work, climb up there and setup your bags or bipod. If you can figure out the bullet drop and hold steady, this optic will do its part and bag that buck or slap that bullseye. Happy hunting...
