Andrew's Review of Trijicon ACOG 1.5x16 Scope, Circle Dot Reticle w/ Short M16 Base Housing, Amber Ring TA44S-10, Red Ring TA44SR-10
This is a great low magnification optic, it is very compact and extremely tough just like you would expect from an ACOG. It is dual illuminated with an etched reticle and no battery power with the same benefits and drawbacks of other dual illuminated ACOGS. The reticle is always there, batteries are never dead, and the illumination may bloom in bright sunlight and doesn't work when looking from a dark area into bright sunlight. I have found that this optic offers a nice compromise between speed and precision. I find other non-magnified parallax free optics like eotech and aimpoints to be faster for reflexive shooting and much easier to use with both eyes open. This optic has a very small optical lens diameter, meaning you're looking through a small hole, but eye relief is excellent and FOV is pretty large because of the low magnification. It can be easily used with both eyes open, however it will take more training to use it as smoothly. My favorite part of this scope is that the 1.5x magnification makes it a bit more precise than the reflex style red dots at any range. As with other ACOGS the glass is incredibly clear. In my opinion this scope is not for everyone but is great for some.
