TXMXMD's Review of Trijicon RMR Nickel Boron Dual Illuminated Sight - 9.0 MOA Green Dot
Excellent quality. I have dark brown eess and the large 9 MOA green dot is much easier for me to see than the red or amber reticles. No batteries is a great plus and the dot is easy to pick up at high, low and no light.
If you mount the RMR on a typical self defense handgun(M&P, Glock, 1911, XDM) the line of site to bore distance is around 0.5 inches. At 25 yards the 9 MOA dot translates to a 2.25 inch circle, at 50 yards it is a 4.5 inch circle. So if you zero the pistol at 25 yards with common calibers (45,40,9) the path of the bullet NEVER gets out of the green dot even up to 50 yards. So if you engage a threat from 0-50 yards this is your fastest brightest no battery RMR site that I have found. Now, if your using a self defense handgun for a distance of greater than 50 yards you should invest in some tennis shoes and take some training on running away from the threat. On the down side of this RMR is if you are trying to shoot an AR-15 at 200 yards, this dot is too big (18 inch dot at 200 yards) and you should choose a smaller dot sized RMR.
