Because of the fiber optics, the brighter the ambient light,the brighter the dot.The integral tritium lamp illuminates the dot in total darkness. The supplied polorized filter which threads on to the front of the Reflex should be used in indoor scenarios where there is the posibility there could be more light behind you than in front of you.
Pros: Robust, light weight, always "on" no batteries to fail
Cons: Old technology, but nothing better on the market
