Legacy Reviewer's Review of Trijicon RX30 42mm Reflex Scope Kit - 6.5 MOA Amber Dot Sight w/ TA51 Mount
I love this sight, works great for everything besides night use in qcb while using flashlight, as in doing so your flashlight will totally wash out the reticle. I had never had this problem with my ACOG so i contacted Trijicon to ask about this problem i was having and founf the ACOG sights have etched reticles in the glass and these do not, so when you use your light with ACOG or point towards a very bright light the greenish hugh will go away but you still have a dark area of where the reticle would be seen in color and they just dont have the problem. These RX30 though do not have an etched glass so in low to no light situations you will see your reticle due to tritium that is till you either turn on your flashlight or have a bright light source pointed right at our direction, as when either of those happen your reticle will wash out and you have nothing to aim with. Trijicon recomended fix for this was when the reticle washes out to use the glass as a large halo ring sight, and i get what they are saying and it will work but has limitations ( if your doing comp shooting and some might be in low light and you hit your light your out an aiming dot well using the halo as they recomend will work and will let you hit your target 9 ot 10 times i would say but as far as getting a good shot in a high scoring area, now thats another story. Also if used in real life in dark / low light qcb and there are kill threats and non kill threats in close proximity this large halo idea of sighting is not a option at all). Really dont know why trijicon wont come out with a polorizer for these sights as they are already threaded for a killflash, and with a polorizer (just like the ones made fore the smaller version of trijicon reflex sights) you just screw it in and then can turn slightly to allow the amount of light entering the front of the sight and you would not lose your reticle due to washout. Please if enough people contact trijicon and request the poloizing filter maybe they will make them for these models also as the do for the smaller reflex sights. I purchased this sight for my home protection gun and was so happy when it arrived as it works so so great in putting your target in the line of the bullet quicker then any other sight i have seen or used before, till night fell and realized it becomes worthless indark with a flashlight, so now i can only use it for day time use home protection. With all that said, it is a great sight and can allow you to lock onto your taget with such speed and ease, but with the problem of no polorizer filter makes it a daytime sight only just about.
Pros: Large viewing window and reticle is so easy to use for super quick target acqusition
Cons: No polorizer available for them and when used with flash light in dark reticle completely washes out
