J e Tobey's Review of Trijicon Bright & Tough SA34 Novak Compact .45 3 Dot Night Sights

These are proven sights as a brand. I have a .45ACP S & W Shield Compact. If one uses the typical 9mm/.40cal. sights on the .45, regulation is a problem. Usually POI at 25 feet will end up 4 inches low. I have experience with the whole line and knew I needed a lower front sight than what most vendors were offering. I spent time talking to Trijicon and this particular set with the final suffix "SA34" has a front sight .024 inches lower than tthe other options that are in the +.160+ range. It does not sound like much but it should be the difference maker for the regulation problem. OP was the only non-factory vendor that offered this option as a special order. I don't have the spare funds to make a mistake I am stuck with. I have been a Brownell's customer since 1971 (steady) and before that back into the Sixties. I had one intelligent "chat" with one of their staffers but they have not taken it seriously and looked into this option. Very disappointed. BUT, after a pleasant live phone conversation with OP, this set was special ordered for me and arrived 2 days after. They have not been installed because I am still working on confirming these are the answer before I open the package. You see, OP was so helpful they arranged for a drop ship to me. The .45 barrel is 3.3 inches long and the math says this should work. I have been gunsmithing, especially in 1911's for over 60 years. But, I know numbers can sometimes lie.

The main point here is that OP took the time and made the effort to get these in my hands. Installation on this gun can get kind of ugly, but I understand that Trijicon is working on this as a warranty-type matter. So, I am going ahead and hope to report success. If anyone has additional knowledge, please comment.
