Jonas's Review of Troy M-LOK Squid Grip 7-Pack

First and foremost, these fit in the mlok slots, not the air vent slots.

I thought these looked cool, and would add some good ergonomics to my rifle.

They don't really look all that cool when installed on an mlok hand guard, I find them to be slippery as heck, and they're really not very durable at all.

I used an old dab nail (rounded end, like a tiny spoon) to seat these correctly in the mlok slots and I punctured straight through the rubber and nicked my hand guard twice. I was not rough, and I used no sharp edges, and this rounded piece of metal just plunged straight through.

If I were to do a redesign, I'd include 2 mlok slot sized sets, and I'd add 5 sets that fit in the air vents. Looking at the original squid grips that fit in the round air vents of earlier gen hand guards, I'd say that they're likely a great product in that type of hand guard. In an mlok guard, I find that I'd want the grips in the air vents more than I'd want them in the mlok slots.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Not durable
  • slippery
  • not a lot of placement options on mlok guard
Best Used for:
  • making sure people know how much money you spend on your rifle
