vietec's Review of Troy PDW Stock Kits Black SBUT-PDW-F0BT00

The length of the stock fully extended is about the length of a CTR or standard stock collapsed. With this stock my AT with a 7.5inch barrel is roughly 20" long in the most compact form...shorter than an MP5A5 by 1.7" If you really price it out, it's not horrible. You have to figure that it comes with a complete BCG, a buffer tube, and a buffer (though it IS part of the BCG) so it's not so much that you're paying $400 for a stock. You're paying right around $200 or so for it, but you gotta think how much R&D went into the NEA version and all of the other versions. While I do not like that it uses a proprietary BCG I like the benefits that the BCG gives you. Sure, you can get the other versions of this stock that uses a normal BCG but the trade off is in length...and when you spend $400 on a stock, you want it to do something really well.

Troy set out to make a stock that would make a gun super compact, and they made it do that VERY well. By buying a different system with a standard BCG you compromise the size, and you know what they say: A jack of all trades is a professional at none.
Pros:
  • compact
  • Sturdy
  • unique
  • innovative
Cons:
  • price
  • proprietary bolt
Best Used for:
  • CQB
  • Smaller storage solution
