meh92's Review of TruGlo TFX Pro Tritium/Fiber Optic Day/Night Sight Set for Kimber

I recently installed these on my 5" Kimber Classic Stainless.

The front sight height is 0.180" and the front width is 0.160". The rear notch width is also 0.160". For me, the front sight fills up most of the notch so if you are used to a skinny front or a generous notch, this will probably take some getting used to.

All three green dots are the same size but the orange ring around the front dot makes it appear a little larger when aiming in good light. I wish the orange ring was a little more florescent like Trijicon HD's, but it is bright enough to be very functional in good light. In good light, the fiberoptic rods glow nicely. In lower light, the orange ring fades quickly. The same-sized dots don't present as obvious of an alignment as I am used to, so I think I'll dim the rear dots with a sharpie.

The night sights are a little dimmer than "standard" night sights but given that they are buried behind fiber optic rods, that is to be expected. They are perfectly serviceable in low light.

The rear sight's front ledge is slightly canted inward to provide what I believe will be a very positive "hook" for emergency cocking or slide release.

The longer front sight looks like it was constructed in a very sturdy fashion. I'm not worried about the long sight breaking. Time and usage will tell.

Shooting 230gr FMJ the point of impact is about 1.5" high at 10 yards. That is right where it used to shoot with the factory sights so I'd say that Truglo did a nice job of maintaining the factory POI.

Overall, I really like the sights so far. I think that downsizing the rear dot size and brightening the orange ring would have made them perfect for me. However, they seem to be very good sights and I would recommend them to anyone looking for these capabilities for their Kimber.
