JW's Review of TRYBE Defense Glock 43/43X Match Grade Non-Threaded Pistol Barrel

Let me start by saying you would be hard pressed to find a more loyal GLOCK fan. I own a lot of GLOCK Pistols and it is the pistol I recommend the most to anyone who asks my opinion. I spent over three decades in law enforcement. I was a SWAT team operator for eleven years and I have held a state firearms instructor certification since 2000. I have fired ten of thousand of rounds through GLOCK pistols and I absolutely love the simplicity and reliability of those big chunks of metal. They kind of remind me of a Jeep, no wind resistance, they ain’t pretty but they will do things others can’t. Anyway, I recently purchased a GLOCK 43X to carry concealed. I struggled terribly to get it to group like my other GLOCK pistols. I could not find an ammo it preferred nor could I get any consistency with my shot groups. I thought maybe I had a dot sight issue because it was so inconsistent. I run a Holosun 507. I removed the sight and ran iron sights with the same problem. So I figured I would try a barrel swap and bought a TRYBE Defense barrel. I installed the barrels and fired five shot groups at 15 yards. I had already put my dot sight back on the 43x and it only took a few groups to dial in the sight. I shot a variety of bullet weights. 115, 124, and 147gr. The barrel performed admirably and my groups were consistent with about a 3”, 5 shot pattern at 15 yards, standing offhand. I shot somewhere around 150 rounds testing the barrel and ensuring consistent shot groups. After I felt really comfortable with the consistency of the gun I switched back to the original GLOCK barrel. My groups became erratic once again and all of the groups patterned low and favored left but were terribly inconsistent. I switched back to the TRYBE barrel and I was back in the zone. I am not sure if the GLOCK barrel is defective or just a little out of tolerance but it is not holding the accuracy of the TRYBE barrel. I would recommend this barrel as a replacement for your GLOCK barrel. It is well made and when I put the calipers on it I noticed it was a few thousands of an inch thicker in the lock up areas. That might be where the GLOCK barrel was lacking.
