the65guy's Review of TRYBE Optics Enhancer Scope Magnification Doubler w/ Tube Mount

Received this unit, very well built and solid, a bit heavier than I was expecting, however it is quite robust construction. To answer the obvious question which is very well addressed or explained in the literature - which is probably the most important consideration - Yes, it does come off (part of it) and it does hold zero when returned. How it works - the front 2/3rds screws off of the mounting base unit ( looking at the picture the point is right behind or at the end of the logo)- it will screw off, has an Oring to tighten up solid right at the end - And - the rear portion is always mounted to the scope tube. We'll call this part the "mounting base" which is not that large, looks fine on the scope/rifle; makes it looks like it has a larger objective of your scope so to speak and I've found it gives a bit more protection to the front lens. I've tried this on an Atibal and Primary arms units, should work on any 30mm straight tube. The mounting base has 4 hex screws and sets up tight, can't imagine having any loose issues although I use blue loctite on all optics screws; overall sets up very well.
Performance - does what it states as it doubles, you will need to zero it as it has wind/elevation adjusters with a master lockdown hex screw. Apparently adding another layer of glass shifts the zero point, you don't need to change scope wind/elev on your scope, just the unit. First time I used it I though it reduced the field of view a bit, however in correct comparison of matching power to power ie; 2x comp'd to 2x and not 2x comp'd to 1x, it loses a little but not much when I compared to landscape markers. I've fired approx 70 rounds thru it,taken it off/on several times and it has held zero fine and it is extremely nice to seriously up your magnification as such, I really like the concept.
** where you may have concern ** by adding another layer of glass changes or changed the scope focus for me. Although most scopes of this type don't have parallax adjustment, I adjusted the diopter and it focused up crisply. If your scope doesn't have a diopter adjustment it may be an issue, however / full disclosure - my up close vision is blurry and I usually have to diopter adj most all scopes in general a bit more than the average person for sure.
I plan on keeping this and using it often. What I would like to see is the option of being able to buy just the mounting base so that I could use it on another rifle without having to move the base, and a protective carry case/enclosure for the removable portion of the optic would be a nice touch.

Any changes to my experience, I will update this review, but in short I grade this optic high quality, super solid and well machined and impressively functional. Although I'd like to see it at a cheaper price point, keep an eye out for OpticsPlanet discount codes, I paid right around 170.00 landed and OpticsPlanet did a great and accurate job as usual.

It currently on my goto 6.5 unit, if that changes I'll let you know and this was mounted on Sfp scopes, I have an FFP that I'm going to try here shortly although I expect the results to be the same.
