Nightvision Newbie's Review of TRYBE Optics GEN 3 PVS-14 Night Vision Monocular

It's a PVS-14 monocular, it's my first night vision device, and if you're here on OP perusing these reviews, I imagine you're likely thinking about buying your first NOD as well. In short - I feel like this was a good deal and I'm happy with it. Now, you should know that performance varies from unit to unit and yours won't necessarily be the same as mine. Mine is a green phosphorus tube with 64lp/mm resolution and only a small blem on the outside of zone 3. I did spring for "hand-picked" and I'm glad I did. Comparing my spec sheet to averages posted on forums, I think I got a pretty solid device, especially for what I paid. I've used it hiking and just walking my dog in the park in the middle of the night. It's more fun than it sounds. Seeing in the dark is a similar kind of thrill to breathing underwater with SCUBA gear. It's just a fun experience in itself. If you want to try out night vision, get one of these and either you like it and keep it, or you can always resell and/or upgrade as you wish.
