XP200dr's Review of U.S. Optics ST-10 FFP Illum. Reticle 10x37mm Rifle Scope

I am no stranger to quality glass and have always wanted a 10x fixed for one of my .308 bolt guns. I just appreciate the simplicity of the design and this optic delivers. With a 37mm objective I compared it side by side with my larger Sightron SIII variables. The SIII's 50-56MM objectives gave a little more pop in brightness however the USO's glass is superior in overall clarify, less sensitive to eye position and has the same FOV as my larger variables when they are set to 8.5x (vs. 10x fixed). After 3 hours of shooting this weekend my eyes were not strained at all.

So if you are in the market for a tier 1 optic with incredible glass at a real world price then this is your scope. At 12" length this scope is very compact, unbelievable stout and super simple to setup. For those who say ridiculous things like "You need more than 10x to shoot at or beyond 1,000 yards" you clearly have not looked through high quality glass at 1,000 yards because I could VERY easily make out a 3"x8" groundhog steel target and call shots. Comparing to my 6-24 variable the image was larger but that would not make me shoot better.
Pros:
  • Ruggedness
  • simplicity
  • Glass Quality
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • long range shooting
