First ever optic and matchdot 2 delivers - Ultradot Matchdot II 1x30mm Reflex Dot Sight

I have always been an open sight shooter, but after being out of the sport for 20+ years, I found that it was harder to see the bullseye at the range than it was when I was younger. Getting a good sight picture was one thing, but keeping it on the center of the the target was another. Covering half the target with the sights was now making it harder for me to stay on center, so I started looking into an optic. The Ultradot Matchdot 2 combines a 2 MOA dot at the smallest setting and a 30mm tube for a full view of the target, so this seemed like everything I was looking for.

The mounting rings included with the sight seem solid, and the fasteners are good quality with smooth threads. The fit in the Weaver rail on my pistol was snug and precise. Following the installation instructions and using the included Allen wrench, the sight was locked in place in minutes, and I had it bore-sighted a few minutes later.

On the first trip to the range with the Matchdot 2 installed, I was worried that it wouldn't be as intuitive as the good old open sights were, but that concern left pretty quickly. View of the target is fantastic, and the sight was spot-on. Within a few shots, I was aiming at the hole where the bullseye used to be, and I reduced my "wild" shots to about 1/3 of what they were with the same pistol using open sights. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how this sight worked for me.
