I have a 45-70 Marlin model 1895 and the magazine tube is too large for the recommended lever action front swivels to fit. This 20 ga. shotgun swivel set fits perfectly. The problem came when I attached the front swivel and the hex socket screw stripped with only moderate pressure. I've installed a lot of swivels, socpe mounts, etc. and know how much pressure to apply; this screw stripped with a fraction of the force it should have. I had to drill out the screw to remove it and was able to easily drill through it was a common HSS bit in a hand drill! The screw was made of mild steel instead of screw stock. Sure enough, the swivel set was made in China. I've used Uncle Mike's swivels (including a lever action set) before and never had this problem. I replaced the stripped screw with another machine screw with no problems. If I hadn't had the tools to drill out the bad screw, I'd have been stuck with a loose swivel.
Other than the bad screw, the set worked fine. I'd recommend this product with the warning to either replace the hex head socket screw or be VERY careful tightening the one supplied.
Pros: Versatile, fits large caliber lever action rifles
Cons: Installation screw stripped, had to be replaced
