Compared to the regular polymer forend, this is definitely better especially with the MLOK attachments. The micro red dot attachment is a huge addition if that floats your boat. It is light, and much lighter than the free float hand guard.
I currently have a magpul backpacker stock and this forend hand guard fits BUT obviously when you take it down, it would not lock into the slot for the stowed position.
Although I would not use this forend frequently (because I like how the backpacker set up for now), I decided not to return it because of the value for money and functionality. It’s a really good alternative.
