Yellowhorse's Review of V Seven Heavy Steel 7.25in Buffer Tube

Adding a Magpul quick disconnect sling mount on the back side of the receiver (upper) of a brand new S&W AR I needed to remove the buffer tube and spring to mount it. Having removed a buffer tube at least 100+ times or more on these, there was nothing to this - until I had to reassemble it.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the threading on the buffer tube while taking it apart but I sure did putting it back together. It got stuck half way in. Removing it I noticed some galling on 2 of the threads on the tube. Odd that I didn't notice this during disassembly but to be honest, I didn't give it a good look as I've never had a problem like this before. As a combat Veteran and Having been a competitive shooter for over two decades, I'm not a novice at this so I'm pretty sure it wasn't anything I did. The AR is brand new so I sure didn't expect this type of problem.
Anyway, the threading in the upper was perfect so I assumed the buffer tube came damaged and I just didn't see it. Annoying but not a big deal.

The solution? Rather than going through the PIA of returning the tube to S&W and wait for a new one to arrive I decided to upgrade to this V SEVEN steel tube and replace the aluminum one. Night and day difference between the stock one and the V SEVEN. Obvious difference in quality and I have no doubt the V SEVEN piece is stronger. A little pricey? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely. I'm quite pleased with this buffer tube. Zero issues or complaints. Quality piece and easy to recommend.

When I ordered this it was on back order and I was advised I might have to wait up to a month for it. Optics Planet got it to me in half that time. Kudos to them. Great service - like always.
